Aleyagarden ships by default Hoya non rooted cuttings with tips in sphagnum moss as shown on the picture to the left,
and paper.
Other options indicated by our buyers in their order include for free : gel in the carton, wrapping in plastic bags, fungicide treatment, spray of a chitosan based solution on leaves, tips in water filled vials. All methods have pros and cons. Using gel or plastic bag decreases the risk of dehydration but cause rot during long travel under heat ( but gel and plastic bags are not advised ) : tell Aleyagarden in a note your packing options. Without your note the plants are shipped according to the by default method described above shown on the picture.
The picture to the right shows plastic bags wrapping the base of rooted Hoya : this is the by default method of packing Hoya rooted plants.

I will buy plants in Thailand, how will I get the phytosanitary certificate ?
I am from Europe and I intend to buy plants in Thailand, what do I need to get the phytosanitary certificate ?
You can have this certificate ( from the Office of the plant protection, at Kasertsart University, on Pahonyotin road ) only if you show there a document, such as an invoice and a certifying letter provided by a shop with a registered production site where the plants are, at least for 9 weeks before sending, periodically controlled on site, along with pesticide uses and treatments. On 6 October 2011 only 2 nurseries are registered and recommended by the Thailand Office of plant protection, that are online plant shops selling wholesale and retail a relatively large range of plants. Aleyagarden, based in Nonthaburi and Phang Nga is one of the two but they don't sell in Chatuchak market.
In order to know the list of the registered retail plant shops you may contact the National Bureau of Agriculture an Food Standards
If you are not from Europe you can have the plants inspected at Kasertsart University and certified without documents from producers. The CITES office and the plant protection office are on two different locations on the campus.
Hoya, Hoya seeds, Orchid seeds, Ferns, Fern spores and other plant collections are for sale on aleyagarden.com Plant care is available in various posts of this blog. Contact : aleyagarden@hotmail.com

Hoya shipped with stems in water ?
An interesting experiment with some cuttings of Hoya species is related in a forum. The cuttings were inserted in vials containing water and traveled about a month. Only one did not survive the trip, the one that lost its vial.
Aleyagarden can ship in these vials below if requested.
